Quebec Street Closure Amid Gas Leak and Road Collapse

Limoilou District Disrupted as Emergency Crews Respond

A significant gas leak, exacerbated by a road subsidence, has led to the closure of a section of 1st Avenue in Quebec’s Limoilou district. The incident prompted a swift emergency response.

Emergency Services Tackle Gas Threat

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene near the Ashton restaurant around 7 p.m. following reports of a strong odor of gas and ground instability. Upon arrival, they confirmed the presence of a gas leak.

As a precautionary measure, the Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ) requested utility company intervention to halt the leak. Consequently, 1st Avenue was completely cordoned off for several blocks to facilitate the operation and thorough investigations.
