The Dutch company Fairphone has unveiled its latest innovation, the Fairphone 6, targeting environmentally conscious consumers with a commitment to repairability and extended software support.

Modular Design Meets Modern Specs

The new Fairphone 6 boasts a modular construction, allowing users to easily swap out key components themselves. This user-friendly approach is central to the brand’s ethos of reducing electronic waste. The device features a vibrant 6.3-inch OLED display and is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor.

Running on Android 15, the Fairphone 6 offers a unique ‘moments’ mode, which can limit users to a maximum of five active applications, promoting greater focus and digital well-being. The phone also supports a range of optional accessories that can be attached to its rear panel, including lanyards and finger hooks.

Exceptional Software Longevity

A standout feature of the Fairphone 6 is its extended software support, with the company guaranteeing updates for eight years, ensuring the device will receive security patches and feature enhancements until 2033. This commitment addresses a common concern about the short lifespan of many modern smartphones.

In terms of durability, Fairphone has equipped the 6 with a substantial 4,415mAh battery that users can readily remove and replace, a feature increasingly rare in today’s market. The phone is constructed using recycled materials and carries an IP55 rating for resistance against dust and water splashes.
