Apple Reportedly Gearing Up for Foldable iPhone Launch in 2026
BEIJING – Apple is reportedly on track to unveil its first foldable iPhone in 2026,according to multiple industry sources, including prominent tech journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg and analyst Ming-chi Kuo. This move, if realized, would represent a meaningful evolution for Apple’s iconic smartphone line.
For years, speculation has swirled around apple’s potential entry into the foldable device market. Gurman’s latest insights suggest that the tech giant is actively refining the folding mechanism and screen technology for its upcoming foldable device, aiming to minimize the visibility of the crease. Furthermore, the company is expected to integrate specialized features for foldable form factors into its future operating system, iOS 27.A key driver for Apple’s push into the foldable space appears to be the burgeoning popularity of such devices, particularly in China. By introducing a foldable iPhone, Apple aims to capture a larger share of this lucrative market and compete more directly with domestic rivals like Xiaomi and Vivo, who have already established a strong presence with their own foldable offerings.
Early reports indicate that the foldable iPhone will feature an external display measuring 5.5 inches, expanding to a larger 7.8-inch screen when unfolded. These dimensions would position the device’s full screen as larger than that of Samsung’s current foldable phones. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also suggested that the device will forgo Face ID and Apple’s other facial recognition technologies, opting rather for Touch ID for biometric authentication. The anticipated price point for this groundbreaking device is expected to be substantial, with estimates suggesting it will retail for no less than $2,000, potentially making it the most expensive iPhone ever released by Apple.
