HOUSTON, TX – A devastating high-speed crash on Houston’s west side has claimed the life of a woman after her SUV veered off the road, struck a tree, and then crashed into a residence. The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 10700 block of Inwood Drive, within the Briar Forest area.

According to Houston Police, the SUV was traveling at an estimated 60-70 mph down Walnut Bend before rounding a corner onto Inwood Drive. The driver reportedly disregarded a stop sign, leading to the catastrophic collision.The impact with the tree was severe, propelling the vehicle into an adjacent home. The driver of the SUV sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities are awaiting an autopsy to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the tragic event.

This incident highlights a growing concern for residents in the area. Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department noted that speeding has been a persistent problem on these streets.
