The Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball announced today that Erick Veras, an infielder for the Colorado Rockies and currently on the Dominican Summer League roster, has been suspended for 56 games without pay after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing substance. This violation occured under the Minor League Baseball Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Erick Veras’s suspension is effective immediately.

Born in Santo Domingo,dominican Republic,on December 18,2008,Erick Veras was signed by the Colorado Rockies as an international free agent with a $125,000 bonus. at just 17 years old, he was considered a promising prospect.
Veras played in the Dominican Summer League, where between 2024 and 2025, he appeared in 15 games. During this period, he recorded five wins and one loss, with an earned run average of 3.86. He allowed 29 earned runs out of 36 total runs in 67.2 innings pitched. Veras also struck out 43 batters and issued 22 bases on balls.
This marks the ninth player suspension this year for a positive drug test,and the seventh within the minor leagues. Notably, Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurckson Profar received an 80-game suspension on March 31, and Philadelphia Phillies closer José Alvarado was also suspended for 80 games in the majors on May 25.
