Pakistan, China reaffirm mutual support in security and agriculture on SCO sidelines

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Wednesday, reaffirming mutual support in key sectors such as agriculture, mining, industry, and security, according to Chinese media.

Dar was in China for a three-day visit to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Tianjin. The two leaders were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the event.

Discussions covered meaningful areas of mutual interest, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and multilateral cooperation.

China is ready to work with Pakistan to implement the significant consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and push forward the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future,” Wang stated.

He added that China would strengthen strategic dialog with Pakistan, jointly build CPEC with high quality, deepen cooperation in agriculture, industry, and mining, and plan celebratory events for the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Wang also addressed China’s concerns regarding the safety of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, expressing support for pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and confidence in Pakistan’s ability to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions.

Dar congratulated Wang on hosting the SCO meeting and expressed gratitude for China’s hospitality.

“It was a pleasure to engage in meaningful discussions with my counterparts on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers,covering a broad spectrum of regional and multilateral issues of shared interest,” Dar commented.

dar also conveyed Pakistan’s full support for China’s preparations for the SCO Tianjin Summit and expressed anticipation for further deepening all-round cooperation between the two nations.
