Daylight attack rocks Flatbush corner as woman recovers
A brazen midday shooting on a Flatbush street left a 65-year-old woman wounded by a stray bullet, police reported Sunday. The incident occurred in broad daylight, underscoring the increasing boldness of gun violence plaguing city streets.
Chaos Erupts on Foster Avenue
The violent encounter unfolded around 10 a.m. on July 13 near the intersection of Foster and New York Avenues. Officers from the 67th Precinct responded swiftly to the scene, finding the victim with a gunshot wound to her hip.
Emergency medical services transported the injured woman to Kings County Hospital, where she is currently being treated and is expected to make a full recovery.
Victim Believed to Be Unintended Target
Investigators are actively pursuing leads to identify the perpetrator, but preliminary information suggests the senior woman was not the intended target of the gunfire. Detectives meticulously processed the scene, discovering at least six spent shell casings scattered on the pavement.
The shooting sent shockwaves through the community. One local resident, on his way to church, expressed his dismay. “I can’t believe these motherf**kers are shooting at each other on the day you are supposed to be praising the Lord,” he stated.

Authorities are searching for a suspect described as wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. The gunman was reportedly seen fleeing the area in a black vehicle, traveling eastbound on Foster Avenue.
According to the New York City Police Department’s latest crime statistics, there has been a notable increase in shootings across the city in recent months, with communities grappling to find solutions. This incident adds to the growing concern over public safety.
