Scheana Shay Alleges Affair with Married Eddie Cibrian
Reality star claims ignorance in new memoir about 2006 relationship.
In her upcoming memoir, Scheana Shay reveals details of a past relationship with Eddie Cibrian, alleging she was unaware he was married to Brandi Glanville at the time. The revelation promises a new perspective on a well-known Hollywood scandal.
How It Started
According to an excerpt from My Good Side, Shay, then 21, met Cibrian while working at a private Beverly Hills club frequented by celebrities. She admits to being immediately captivated by him, stating, “If you were to ask me when I was growing up what my exact type was, to a tee it was Eddie–tall, dark, and handsome, with dimples.”
She goes on to say, “The second we made eye contact, he smiled at me with those dimples, and I melted.”
At that time, Cibrian was married to Brandi Glanville, a star of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Pre-Social Media Days
Shay explains that because it was before social media, she had no way of knowing about Cibrian’s marital status. He also didn’t wear a wedding ring, which further led her to believe he was single. She writes that she “assumed he was single.”
With limited internet access, she did not consider researching him online. For a young woman with limited resources, checking someone’s background wasn’t as simple as it is today. According to a 2023 Pew Research Center survey, only 48% of adults used social media in 2009, highlighting how different information access was then (Pew Research Center).
Relationship Timeline
By 2006, Shay says she and Cibrian were having a physical relationship, describing it as “a weekly booty call.”
She recalls going out with him and friends, including boat trips and photos together. “In hindsight, it was pretty brazen of him to be fully out in public with a bunch of single women while his wife and child were at home,”
she writes.
During this time, Shay also dated Jesse Metcalfe from Desperate Housewives. However, she reconnected with Cibrian after that relationship ended. Despite never visiting his home, she claims she “didn’t see a single red flag”
with him.
Gaslighting Allegation
Shay alleges that someone at work eventually warned her about Cibrian’s marriage. When she confronted him, she says he denied it, calling the question “insane.”
She characterizes his denial as “gaslighting in its most basic form,”
but admits she trusted him and continued seeing him. Reportedly, Cibrian was also seeing LeAnn Rimes, who later became his wife after his divorce from Glanville.
My Good Side by Scheana Shay will be available on July 22.
