The Vera C. Rubin Observatory, formerly known as the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), is located atop Cerro Pachón in Chile, South America. This project is a collaboration between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Energy. It took around seven hours of image recording time and is composed of a collection of 678 images. These initial published images represent only 2% of the full-size images the telescope can capture.
