An elderly Cuban died after being hit by a tourist rental car on the morning of this Friday, April 5, in Santa Clara, capital of the province of Villa Clara, Cuba.
According to reports on social networks, the vehicle, a white Hyundai truck, was traveling at excess speed, and on its way it lost control and hit the sidewalk, taking down a pole and the old man.
According to the publications, the man was cleaning the road at the time of the accident, when he was hit by the vehicle. Due to his advanced age, he did not resist the blow and died at the scene.
One of the publications, found in the Facebook group “Buses & Truck Accidents,” included photographs of the vehicle, which showed considerable damage to the front, as a result of the collision, both with the telephone pole and with the fatal victim. .
Photographs of the body on the ground were also included, although covered with a black tarp. According to witnesses, the occupants of the vehicle were not even affected by what happened.
“He knocked down a telephone pole. At the time of the photos she still had people stuck in the car. The deceased is an old man who was cleaning the road. Even after doing what they did, they showed no signs of regret,” the source concluded.
In another publication, one of the alleged witnesses claims to have noticed the high speed at which the person in the white car was driving, and although it was a rental vehicle, he stated that they looked like Cubans.
“I did see the Hyundai. It wasn’t going very fast, but it did seem like it was driving fast and furious, a Sub that loses stability out of nowhere. The crew of the car looked like Cubans and well, the grace of the speculator is going to pay off very dearly for them,” he indicated.
The situation caused great indignation among users on social networks, who pointed out the high rate of traffic accidents involving cars dedicated to tourism, attributing them to the recklessness of the visitors.

At the moment the identity and nationality of those involved are unknown, as well as the legal consequences they will face. The identity of the victim has also not been revealed.
The publications mention that the police took all the crew members of the vehicle, but some fear that if they are foreigners they will be let go without consequences.
