The government of President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously proposed laws on mobilization. These still need to be approved by the Parliament of Ukraine. According to the proposal, the age limit for reservists should be lowered from 27 to 25. This should allow hundreds of thousands more soldiers to go to war. In addition, basic military service lasting several months is to be introduced for citizens under 25. For most women, the regulations should not change.
Call-up notices on your cell phone?
In the future, draft notifications, including for Ukrainians living abroad, will also be sent via smartphone. A corresponding system is already in the works. This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Objectors should be punished with an entry in the Ukrainian debtor register. You will then no longer be able to take out a loan or travel abroad. With an entry, debtors are then excluded from state benefits.
Massive shelling of Kherson in the south
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry also said that at least one person was killed in Russian shelling of a train station in Kherson, southern Ukraine.
Four others were injured. The residents there were preparing to leave the city because of the threat of massive shelling.
Russian warship destroyed
An airstrike by Ukrainian forces on targets on the Russian-annexed Crimean peninsula damaged a Russian warship.
The Defense Ministry in Moscow announced this on Tuesday. Photos shared on social media even suggest that the “Novocherkassk” was completely destroyed.
Ukraine: Positions in Marinka are held
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s military leadership has rejected Russia’s claims that its troops have fully captured the city of Marinka.
Valery Zalushny, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said:
“As of today, our troops remain present in the northern part of the area and have established a defensive line outside the settlement. The city itself, I can say, no longer exists.”
Also on Tuesday, a 31-year-old Ukrainian soldier was buried here in Irpin near Kiev. He was killed in fighting near Marinka, near Donzek.
