3 Groups of People Who Need Independent Isolation According to Doctors

LENGKONG, AYOBANDUNG.COM – The Delta variant of the corona virus has been detected in various parts of Indonesia. This Delta variant is also known as B.1.617.2 and was first identified in India.

Please note, the Delta variant is six times more contagious than the Alpha variant which was first discovered in the UK. General Chairman of PB IDI, dr. Daeng M. Faqih, also mentioned that currently the majority of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia are caused by the Delta variant.

“This Delta variant results in more severe illness and doubles hospitalization. Based on friends at the Friendship Hospital, of the 211 Covid-19 patients who entered, 160 were due to the delta variant. So now almost 80 percent of Covid-19 cases are caused by the Delta variant. ,” he said in a Webinar on Complete Self-Isolation Guidelines for Families, Friday (16/7/2021) organized by Tokio Marine. On the other hand, this Delta variant also turns out to be able to infect those who were previously considered less susceptible, such as young adults and children.

Therefore, it is necessary to take preventive measures to reduce the transmission of Covid-19, one of which is to self-isolate (isoman).

With isoman, someone who is infected can maintain health while preventing transmitting Covid-19 to others. Regarding isoman, dr. Daeng mentioned that there were three groups that had to do it.

First, are people without symptoms (OTG). “In fact, OTG transmits a lot, it is often called the silent killer. So OTG can transmit to other people to get sick. Even though there are no symptoms, it must be isoman,” he explained.

The second is those with mild symptoms with positive PCR or or positive rapid antigen. Third, those who are in close contact with people infected with Covid-19. Close contact can be:

  • face-to-face contact with people who are infected or have symptoms, a radius of 1 meter for 15 minutes
  • physical touch
  • treating patients without standard PPE

The isoman should be carried out in these 3 groups, but because of the current conditions where all hospitals are full, people who cannot get treatment at the hospital are forced to isolate at home.

Then the isoman can be ended by referring to several things, namely:

  1. For OTG for 10 days counted from the swab examination
  2. For mild symptoms 10 days counted from the swab examination plus 3 days after being free of any symptoms
  3. For close contact for 14 days from contact with a positive person Covid-19
