New York City – Thieves posing as construction workers stole a safe and jewelry valued at approximately $3.2 million from a home in the Jamaica Hills neighborhood of Queens on October 16th, police said.
The burglary occurred around 2:20 p.m. ET when the suspects ”forcibly” entered the residence through a rear door, according to an NYPD statement. Once inside, they removed a safe and a substantial amount of jewelry.
Surveillance footage shows the three suspects fleeing the scene eastbound on 84th Drive in a blue Hyundai Elantra.
Two of the suspects were disguised as construction workers. one was described as wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers, a neon construction vest, a white construction hat, and eye protective wear, while carrying a black backpack. The second wore a black sweatshirt, black pants, gray sneakers, a neon construction jacket, a white construction hat, eye protective wear, and a black face covering, also carrying a black backpack.
The third suspect, believed to be the getaway driver, wore a white hoodie sweater, black pants, gray sneakers, and black gloves.
No injuries were reported during the heist. Authorities continue to investigate and have released details in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspects.
