Does Samsung get cold feet? The reigning market leader for years has not brought a good year behind him, especially the sales of the flagship smartphone Galaxy S9 fell short of the high expectations of the company's top. Now Samsung apparently wants to start the new year with a true smartphone offensive: In addition to the at least three models comprehensive Galaxy S10 series, the first foldable smartphone and two devices from a new Galaxy M series, the manufacturer is the release of nine Plan representatives from the Galaxy A series. They will all appear in the first half of 2019.
As Sammobile wanted to know, the Galaxy A smartphones carry the model names SM-A105, SM-A202, SM-A205, SM-A260, SM-A305, SM-A405, SM-A505, SM-A705 and SM-A905 , It can be deduced that Samsung expands the series since 2015 to include Galaxy A1, Galaxy A2 and Galaxy A4 as well as new editions of Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 as well as the recently released Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9.
According to the information of the Samsung fan blog, not every one of the listed smartphones will appear on every market. The manufacturer had similar problems in the previous year; devices such as the Galaxy A8 Plus, the Galaxy A8 Star or the Galaxy A8S with a hole in the display announced in December were reserved for certain regions only.
The competition in the neck
The sheer volume of planned Galaxy smartphones gives an idea of how strongly Samsung feels under pressure from the competition. In China, not least providers of low-cost devices such as Xiaomi dominate, while Huawei is a Chinese company last year in second place was the world's most successful smartphone manufacturer by sales.
Back in the fall, Samsung said that the Galaxy A series would play a bigger role in the portfolio in the future and that innovative technologies should particularly appeal to a younger audience. In October, it was announced that the group will probably also have its smartphones manufactured in Chinese factories in the future - but for the time being these are devices from the low-cost segment.
It remains to be seen if Samsung's strategy will work. It is not brand new, after all, until a few years ago, the Koreans flooded the market with an unmanageable number of smartphones. Only from 2015 order in the portfolio of Koreans returned - just with the Galaxy A series, which threatens to dilute the offer now.
