A passenger plane had to abandon a flight to Abu Dhabi and return to Manchester Airport after a problem was reported shortly after take-off.
The Etihad Airways EY22 flight left Manchester on Monday at 8:28 pm, but looped before returning to the airport and landing again just before 8:00 pm.
According to the Flight Alerts website, which monitors air traffic control, the flight reported a loud bang shortly after launch.
An airport spokesman confirmed that the fire department was called in accordance with the runway procedure.
At the moment, no further details were available.
Passenger Graham Ecclestone posted a message on Facebook saying: "Departed, ten minutes later he landed in Manchester, the plane had a small fire on its back.
A video that seemed to show the scene of the emergency was posted on Twitter by @Amptechltd: "Many blue flashing lights at Manchester Airport hope everything is alright ..."
The M.E.N has contacted Etihad Airways for more information.
We bring you more details as soon as we get them.
