James Bond‘s Origin Story Revealed in New “007 First Light” Gameplay
Cologne, Germany – IO Interactive showcased extended gameplay footage of their upcoming James Bond title, 007 First Light, during today’s State of Play presentation, revealing a blend of stealth, action, and driving sequences reminiscent of the Hitman series. The game is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with 24-hour early access available to those who pre-order.
007 First Light will depict a younger James Bond at the beginning of his career as a 00 agent. While not directly connected to the existing film canon, IO Interactive emphasized the importance of narrative within the game. Players will experience gameplay featuring infiltration, car chases, shooting, stealth takedowns, gadget utilization, and environmental traps.
The presentation also confirmed Patrick Gibson will portray James Bond in 007 First Light. IGN Spain previewed the game at gamescom 2025, noting a resemblance to the Uncharted series and reporting a positive initial impression.
