Sulingen, Germany – A cyberattack on Leymann Baustoffe, a building materials company, resulted in damages totaling €1.4 million, according to Managing Director Philipp Leymann, who shared his experience at a cybersecurity event held at the Rittergut factory in Sulingen on Wednesday.
The June 18, 2025 attack underscores the growing threat to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the digital age. The event, hosted by the Diepholz district’s economic growth agency and the city of Sulingen, brought together approximately 130 attendees to learn about cybersecurity risks and resilience strategies. Leymann’s firsthand account, alongside insights from expert Dr. Dennis Kenji-Kipker and local police, aimed to equip businesses with the knowledge to protect themselves against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
“That day our company fell victim to a cyber attack,” Leymann told the audience. The event focused on networking opportunities and practical steps SMBs can take to mitigate risk in the digital landscape.
