On the second summer vacation weekend of the season, the ADAC expects a lot of traffic and plenty of traffic jams on the motorways, especially in the north of the country. Schools are now closing in Berlin, Brandenburg and Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have already had a week of vacation behind them.

Car tourists from Northern Europe and travelers who are not tied to vacation dates are also traveling towards the sea or south.

The club assumes that, as in the previous year, there will be no typical tourist traffic as in previous years as a result of the Corona crisis. More people are likely to go on vacation in their own country or in neighboring countries and less on long-haul trips. However, in view of the limited number of overnight stays in the tourist regions, many holidaymakers will probably forego driving altogether. When the weather is nice, day trippers or spontaneous holidaymakers also play a large part in the congestion at the weekend. Significantly longer travel times should be planned on the access roads into the mountains and lake landscapes. The same applies to construction sites. Work is still being carried out on almost 830 motorway sections.

The risk of congestion is greatest on Friday afternoon, in the morning and early afternoon on Saturday and on Sunday afternoon.

The barrages (both directions):

 - Fernstraßen zur Nord- und Ostsee
 - Großräume Hamburg und Berlin
 - A 1 Köln - Dortmund - Bremen - Lübeck
 - A 2 Dortmund - Hannover - Berlin
 - A 3 Frankfurt - Nürnberg - Passau
 - A 5 Karlsruhe - Basel
 - A 7 Hamburg - Flensburg
 - A 7 Hamburg - Hannover und Würzburg - Ulm - Füssen/Reutte
 - A 8 München - Salzburg
 - A 9 München - Nürnberg
 - A 10 Berliner Ring
 - A 19 Dreieck Wittstock/Dosse - Rostock
 - A 24 Berlin - Hamburg
 - A 93 Kufstein - Inntaldreieck
 - A 95/B 2 München - Garmisch-Partenkirchen
 - A 99 Umfahrung München

The traffic jams continue in neighboring countries. The problem routes include the Tauern, Fernpass, Brenner, Karawanken and Gotthard routes as well as the trunk roads to the Italian, Croatian and French coasts. The access roads to the excursion regions in the subordinate road network of the Alpine countries are also at great risk of congestion. The tourist traffic in the direction of Northern Europe will be comparatively low. In Sweden and Denmark, the corona situation is more tense than in Central and Southern Europe, Norway does not yet allow holidaymakers from abroad to travel.

At many borders, checks and long waiting times must be expected when entering and leaving the country. Refusals are also possible due to Corona. All details about border controls can be found at https://bit.ly/adac_grenzen_corona.
