Police investigations at the time revealed neither driver involved was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In a separate incident, on October 21, 2025, a 20-year-old scooter rider, identified as Z.W., died in a head-on collision with a van on the Brownsweg in Suriname. Preliminary investigations indicated the scooter rider veered into the opposite lane, causing the crash.
