Yango Group, a technology company specializing in urban mobility, reported that its AI-powered routing system saved commuters more than five million hours in 2025 across over 20 cities globally. The company stated that this equates to nearly 600 years of time reclaimed from traffic congestion, according to a press release issued Friday.

Pakistan alone benefited from 832,617 hours of saved commuting time in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad during 2025, Yango said. The results are based on an analysis of millions of Yango Ride trips, demonstrating the impact of “intelligent routing” on daily travel, and highlighting the increasing role of AI in urban transportation.

In Karachi, the most active Yango users saved an average of 69 minutes and 38 seconds annually. Lahore commuters experienced an average time savings of 2.09 percent per trip, while those in Islamabad and Rawalpindi saved a total of 103,076 hours, or 23 minutes and 17 seconds per user for the most frequent riders.

“Five million hours saved isn’t a tech metric. It is proof that AI can solve real urban problems at scale,” said Adeniyi Adebayo, Chief Business Officer at Yango Group. “We are demonstrating that the next generation of city infrastructure won’t be built with concrete and steel alone, but with data, algorithms, and intelligence embedded into everyday services.”

Yango’s technology utilizes machine learning, combined with real-time and historical traffic data, to identify the fastest routes. The system is designed to navigate complex traffic patterns, such as those found in Karachi, delivering route optimizations in milliseconds. It assesses road layouts, traffic light timings, turning complexity, and anticipated congestion to guide drivers efficiently. The system continuously learns from discrepancies between predicted and actual travel times, adapting to the unique conditions of each city.

Beyond reducing travel time, Yango claims its routing technology also contributes to improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and reduced pressure on congested streets, supporting the long-term sustainability of urban environments. The company highlighted the increasing strain on cities due to population growth and increased vehicle ownership, suggesting that technology can assist mitigate infrastructure challenges and improve the quality of daily life.

At the Punjab Transport Expo 2025, Yango Pakistan discussed potential partnerships with the Minister of Transport, according to reports. The company also showcased its technological innovations for urban mobility at GITEX Africa 2025, further signaling its expansion and commitment to AI-driven transportation solutions.
