Yamaha RX300A and RX500A: 2026 Entry-Level AV Receivers

June 1, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Yamaha has announced the expansion of its home theater lineup with the introduction of two new AV receivers, the RX300A and the RX500A. The new hardware, designed to integrate with modern gaming consoles and high-resolution display standards, is scheduled for a staggered release beginning in June 2026.

The RX300A, a 5.2-channel receiver, serves as the entry-level offering in the refreshed series. It features 4K/120Hz compatibility, support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X, and dual subwoofer outputs. Yamaha has redesigned the unit with a box-shaped chassis and an integrated fifth foot located in the center of the base to improve structural stability. The receiver also includes Bluetooth Multipoint functionality and an updated interface for on-screen displays. The company will offer the RX300A as a standalone unit or bundled as part of the YHT-4970U system, which includes a matched 5.1-channel speaker kit.

The 7.2-channel RX500A expands the feature set, incorporating support for DTS:X and Zone 2 audio configurations. Connectivity options on the RX500A include built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet, facilitating music streaming through services such as Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and Google Cast. Both models support 8K video pass-through to accommodate next-generation hardware.

Pricing for the new lineup begins at $400 for the RX300A, with a retail availability date set for June 2026. The YHT-4970U bundle is scheduled to reach the market in July 2026 at a price point of $700. The RX500A receiver is slated for a release in September 2026 with a retail price of $600. While these new models enter the product catalog, Yamaha has confirmed that the existing RX-V6A receiver will remain in the company’s current lineup.
