Xolo Maridueña, known for his roles in “Cobra Kai” and “Blue Beetle,” has been cast as Portgas D. Ace in the upcoming third season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” adaptation. The proclamation, made by Netflix on november 5, 2025, confirms long-held fan expectations for the actor to take on the pivotal character.
Maridueña will portray Ace, a prominent figure within a powerful pirate crew and wielder of a fire-based Devil Fruit ability. His character holds significant importance to the overarching narrative,especially in relation to Monkey D. Luffy’s backstory and future storylines. The casting marks a major growth for the series as production on the third season is slated to begin by the end of November 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Portgas D. Ace is characterized by his physical prowess and distinctive attire, often depicted wearing dark shorts and boots, an orange hat, and minimal clothing. Maridueña joins Cole escola,recently cast as Bon Clay,as a key addition to the show’s expanding ensemble.
