Xolo Maridueña, known for his roles in “Cobra Kai” and “Blue Beetle,” has been cast as Portgas D. Ace in the upcoming third season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” adaptation. The proclamation, made by Netflix on november 5, 2025, confirms long-held fan expectations for the actor to take on the pivotal character.
Maridueña will portray Ace, a prominent figure within a powerful pirate crew and wielder of a fire-based Devil Fruit ability. His character holds significant importance to the overarching narrative,especially in relation to Monkey D. Luffy’s backstory and future storylines. The casting marks a major growth for the series as production on the third season is slated to begin by the end of November 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa.
