Xiaomi Discontinues Software Support for Over 20 Smartphones
More than 20 Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones will reach their end-of-life in 2025, meaning they will no longer receive software updates - including crucial security patches – after February 2026. The announcement impacts a wide range of devices, from popular models like the POCO F4 Pro to older flagships such as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.
This move means owners of the affected devices will face increasing security risks as vulnerabilities are discovered and go unpatched. While the phones will continue to function, the lack of updates could expose users to malware and other threats. Xiaomi is currently rolling out HyperOS 3, its latest operating system, but not all devices are eligible for the upgrade, and even those that are may not receive all new features, like the “Hyper Island” notification and widget management system, on mid-range models.
Xiaomi has outlined a phased rollout plan for HyperOS 3, beginning in October with flagships, followed by a second wave in January-February 2026, and a final phase in spring 2026. A separate plan exists for the Chinese market, featuring models exclusive to that region, such as the MIX FOLD series and Redmi K phones.
The following devices will no longer receive updates after February 2026:
* Little F4
* POCO F4 Pro
* POCO F4 GT
