Xbox Magnus: Next-Gen Specs Leaked – 2027 Release Window?

February 16, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

The next generation of Xbox consoles may arrive in 2027, with Microsoft reportedly finalizing the silicon for its new hardware, codenamed “Magnus.” According to a report from Moore’s Law Is Dead, the specifications for the console are locked in, including both the GPU and CPU dies.

The core of the new Xbox will utilize AMD’s RDNA 5 architecture. Sources indicate the GPU within Magnus will be the same silicon planned for the successor to the Radeon RX 9070 XT, meaning the console and high-end PC gaming will share the same underlying technology. This shared architecture could streamline development, allowing developers to build games for a unified platform rather than porting between different systems.

This level of hardware completion points towards a 2027 release window. Finalizing the silicon now provides Microsoft with two years to refine drivers, the operating system, and, crucially, game development. Early hardware stability also allows for earlier distribution of development kits, giving studios more time to optimize graphics before launch.

AMD CEO Lisa Su has reportedly confirmed the 2027 timeframe for the next Xbox console, according to reports circulating alongside the hardware specifications leak.

While a 2027 launch remains subject to change, the reported progress on the hardware suggests Microsoft is taking a deliberate and well-planned approach to its next-generation console. The completion of the silicon at this stage indicates a solid foundation for the future of Xbox gaming.
