Goldberg’s Farewell Ends in Defeat; Rollins Injured
Orton and Jelly Roll to team up at SummerSlam after chaotic Saturday Night’s Main Event.
An eventful WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta saw a legend’s career end in defeat, a potential major injury to a top star, and a musical artist getting physical. Goldberg‘s final match was the headliner, but Seth Rollins‘ injury stole headlines.
Orton Victorious, Jelly Roll Enters the Fray
**Randy Orton**, accompanied by **Jelly Roll**, faced **Drew McIntyre**, who had **Logan Paul in his corner. **McIntyre** brutalized **Orton** with back suplexes onto the commentary table.
Ultimately, **Orton** secured the win with an RKO following interference from **Paul**. Post-match chaos saw **Paul** attack **Orton**, leading to **Jelly Roll** getting involved and leveling **Paul** with a punch. **McIntyre** then delivered a Claymore Kick to **Jelly Roll**. General Managers **Adam Pearce** and **Nick Aldis** intervened. A tag team match at SummerSlam was set, pitting **Orton** and **Jelly Roll** against **McIntyre** and **Paul**.
Decent opening match with Randy Orton going over Drew McIntyre. A lot of it happened during the break, but the post-match stuff with Logan Paul and Jelly Roll was really well done. Good build for the impending #SummerSlam tag match. #SNME

United States Title Match and Samoan Intrigue
**Solo Sikoa**, accompanied by MFT (**JC Mateo**, **Tama Tonga**, and **Talla Tonga**), defended his WWE United States Championship against his brother, **Jimmy Uso**. After a back-and-forth battle, **Sikoa** retained the title thanks to interference from **Talla Tonga**. Following the match, **Jacob Fatu** made his presence felt, attacking MFT before being confronted by **Sikoa** and **Tonga**.
Ok match with Solo Sikoa retaining the title over Jimmy Uso. I'm not really feeling Sikoa and the MFTs yet. We'll see. #SNME

Injury Derails Rollins, Knight Takes the Win
**Seth Rollins**, with **Paul Heyman**, faced **LA Knight**. During the match, **Rollins** appeared to injure his knee attempting a Lionsault. **Knight** capitalized, hitting BFT for the win. WWE medical staff assisted **Rollins** to the back.
According to a 2024 report from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, knee injuries account for a significant percentage of wrestling-related injuries, highlighting the physical risks involved in the sport.
The injury bug hits #WWE in a HUGE way. We've had a few, but none larger than Seth Rollins. Rollins had to be helped to the back after seemingly blowing out his knee landing on his feet after a Lionsault attempt. Awful moment that is going to destroy many storylines. #SNME

I can't imagine the amount of scrambling that is going on behind the scenes right now. Seth Rollins was playing a major role in all #WWE storylines for the remainder of the year. Unbelievable.
Interestingly, the Lionsault he hit on Jinder Mahal last year in January 2024 is also…

Gunther Defeats Goldberg in Final Bout
In the main event, **Gunther** defended his World Heavyweight Championship against **Goldberg**. The match saw both competitors deliver signature moves, with **Goldberg** even accidentally spearing the referee. Ultimately, **Gunther** targeted **Goldberg**’s knee, leading to a referee stoppage via rear-naked choke.
Some really poor time management spoiled the end of Goldberg's career. Goldberg gave his all in the match. It wasn't great, but I appreciate the effort of the 58-year-old man trying to turn the clock back one last time. Goldberg didn't embarrass himself by any means. #SNME

I just can't believe that they came up so short on time that we couldn't get the full post-match speech from Goldberg. Such a bummer that he couldn't truly have that moment. Showing the full footage after the fact is not a proper substitute for proper time management. #SNME

This was a consequential #SNME, mainly for the wrong reasons. The story should be a triumphant end to Goldberg's career, but all I, and I'm sure many others, can think about is the injury to Seth Rollins. Hopefully it's not that bad, but if it's long-term… it's devastating.

Also, no Jesse Ventura commentating tonight. I was looking forward to his wacky commentary where he destroys a segment by talking about wrestling like it's real and not seeing how different the finishes are from his day. #SNME

What did you think of the 7/12 #SNME from Atlanta?
— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) July 13, 2025
After the match, **Goldberg** addressed the crowd, apologizing for his performance and thanking his family, friends, and fans. The show ended abruptly, cutting short his farewell speech.
