World of Warcraft Forever: Everything We Know About the Official Classic Plus
World of Warcraft: Forever, the official Classic Plus project developed by Blizzard, launches globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. A beta test will run from September 17 to approximately October 21, 2026.
What World of Warcraft: Forever is and what it is not
Set chronologically after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, the project introduces a permanent level cap of 60. Blizzard has structured the rules so that character progression, accumulated gear, and learned professions will not be devalued by level increases in subsequent patches. The experience requires a standard World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time, separating it from experimental seasonal formats like Season of Discovery and frozen environments like Classic Era.
Design philosophy and new content
The core philosophy centers on treating the world as the main protagonist, preserving Vanilla identity while introducing new stories, zones, over 1,000 quests, dungeons, 10-player and 20-player raids, and professions. Rather than navigating a solved game where every route and secret is already known, players encounter genuine uncertainty, including unmined plots left unresolved by the original game. Flying mounts and level scaling are excluded to maintain the foundational social component of the journey. Additionally, the Skyborne are introduced as a new playable race. Players choose their faction affiliation at creation—selecting the Horde unlocks the shaman class, while the Alliance unlocks the mage. The project also enables rare combinations such as the Dwarf Shaman and Undead Paladin, according to verified guides.
Beta schedules, optional packs, and access
Players can access the baseline experience on day one using an active World of Warcraft subscription, with no mandatory purchase required to play the base game. However, Blizzard is offering optional packages—including the Skyborne Heroic, Skyborne Epic, and a limited collection—that bundle early perks such as the Skyborne race, the Zephras starting island, guaranteed beta access for higher-tier packs, cosmetics, and friend codes. Controller support is also actively undergoing testing within the development pipeline, according to Instant Gaming News.

As the September 17 beta opening approaches, developers have maintained an active development timeline leading directly into the November 4 global launch.
