Aatos Koivu, a prospect for the Montreal Canadiens, once again made his mark on the scoring sheet during the summer showcase of the World Junior Hockey Championship. Koivu registered his first tournament assist in Finland’s 3-1 victory over Sweden on Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“I touched someone’s ankle on a slapshot, and he stayed on the ground; I heard him screaming,” Koivu described. “I saw it as an chance in a 5-on-3 situation as he was out of the play.I approached the net, and the goaltender made a good stop, but we had a big guy in front of the net to put it in.”
Roope Vesterinen scored the other two goals for Finland, which finished the kind competition at the top with four victories and one defeat, mirroring Sweden’s record.
