Belmont Women’s Tennis Dominates Murray State in Doubles Play at Lipscomb Hidden Duals
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University women’s tennis secured a clean sweep of doubles matches against Murray State on Sunday at the Lipscomb Hidden Duals. Despite originally being scheduled for singles competition against Lipscomb, the Bruins focused solely on doubles play, emerging victorious in all three contests.
The results mark a strong showing for Belmont as they conclude their fall tournament schedule in two weeks. The team’s performance provides valuable competitive experience heading into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Tennessee from October 16-21. This tournament will test the Bruins against top regional competition and offer opportunities for individual and team growth.
Savannah Webster and Jessica Popiol led the charge for Belmont, defeating Yuna Kadowaki and Yu Kikawa of Murray State with a decisive 6-2 victory. Cielo Tapia-cruz and Ketevan Jeladze followed with a hard-fought 7-6 (4) win over Bruna Melato and Rebecca Widan. The final doubles match saw Emma Grant and Annika Warkentin triumph over Molly Null and Arden Dethridge, 6-3, completing the sweep for Belmont.
