Women’s Hockey Opens 2025-26 Campaign Versus Franklin Pierce

SCHENECTADY, ⁤N.Y.- union College women’s hockey ⁢will kick off it’s 2025-26 season‌ with a⁢ road contest against Franklin pierce University on October 31, ‍2025. The ⁣announcement comes as the Garnet Chargers look to build on a historic⁢ 2024-25 season ​under second-year head coach Tony Maci.

Last season, Maci and his staff led Union to a program-record 13 wins and the team’s first-ever postseason victory. The Garnet Chargers finished with‍ a 13-23-1 overall record and an ECAC Hockey-best eight conference ⁣wins.⁣ A highlight of the season was a 3-2 upset⁤ victory over then-No. 9 Cornell University in november.⁤ Union faced ⁣nationally ranked opponents in⁤ 19 games,with eight⁣ losses decided by a single goal,and narrowly missed upsetting No. 3 Cornell in the⁣ ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series.

The ‍team also established new program records for goals scored and fewest ‌goals⁤ allowed‍ in its Division I‌ era.First-year forward Karianne Engelbert earned All-Rookie Team honors, marking the program’s first ECAC postseason recognition since 2008.

Assisting​ Maci‌ are Shawn Skelly, Tina‌ Ciraulo, and Courtney Hall.

Union⁣ was predicted ‌to finish ninth in‌ the 12-team ECAC Hockey Preseason Poll, receiving 56 points.
