CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UCF women’s golf team is in contention at the Cougar Classic, carding a ten-under par performance across the frist two rounds and sitting in fifth place after day one of competition hosted by Charleston.
The knights trail first-place Tennessee by nine strokes as they navigate the Yeamans Hall Club course. The team’s performance marks a strong start to the 2024-25 season.Molly Smith led the Knights with a consistent performance, beginning with a one-under par 70 in the first round and following it up with a two-under par score in the second, tying her for 15th place.True freshman Kinga Kusmierska made an notable collegiate debut, shooting a 72 in her first round and a 68 in her second, totaling eight birdies and landing in 20th place.
Redshirt freshman Tiffany Tsai also showcased a strong start, shooting two-under par (69) in the first round and a 72 in the second, finishing the day in 26th place. Senior Pimpisa Sisutham delivered even-par 71s in both rounds,tallying six birdies and securing 33rd place.
Sophomore Mila Jurine overcame a arduous start with a double bogey, rallying with three birdies on holes 10-14 in the first round and improving to a 68 in the second, jumping 29 spots to finish the day in 40th place.
The Knights will conclude the Cougar Classic on Tuesday, September 9, with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
