SGS Essen Parts Ways with Head Coach Robert Augustin Following heavy Defeat
Essen - Teh SGS essen has reacted to its 0-8 dismantling against VfL Wolfsburg by relieving team boss Robert Augustin and sporting director Thomas Gerstner of their duties, the Bundesliga club announced Wednesday. The decision follows a “detailed analysis of the current situation,” according to the association.
Augustin had been a co-trainer since 2023 in Essen and transitioned to the role of head coach at the start of the season.Gerstner joined the SGS at the beginning of the current season, overseeing the sporting area.
Co-trainer Jessica Wissmann will take over as interim head coach,beginning with Friday’s away match against Leipzig (6:30 p.m. on Magenta Sport).
The club currently sits at the bottom of the Women’s Bundesliga table with one point after five match days.
