Winter Arrives: Sub-Zero Temperatures and Snow Forecast for‌ finland – “never Should‌ Summer Tires Be Used”

Rovaniemi,Finland – A meaningful ⁢shift⁤ to winter weather is forecast across Finland starting this ‌week, with temperatures plummeting and snow ⁣expected to spread throughout the country, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute. While northern regions are bracing for particularly frigid conditions, central and southern Finland will also experience a marked drop in temperatures.

Meteorologist Tuukka Keränen anticipates nighttime temperatures in‍ northern finland could reach⁣ between 20⁤ and 30 degrees below zero Celsius. Daytime⁤ highs are expected to remain between 10 and 20 degrees below zero. Central Finland‌ is highly likely to see daytime temperatures around five‍ degrees below ⁤zero, while southern Finland will hover around freezing, potentially remaining near ‍zero during the day and dropping to freezing overnight.

Currently, much of Finland is covered in snow, though coastal and central areas have seen limited accumulation. However, snow showers are predicted‌ to move southward⁢ as the week progresses, potentially bringing heavier snowfall ‌to Uusimaa and the capital region by mid-week.

“As next week progresses,we could get snow showers in the south,” Keränen⁤ told STT on Sunday, adding that precise rainfall predictability is “really bad.”

authorities are urging caution on the roads. “It really looks like winter. Never should‍ summer ‌tires be used,” Keränen emphasized. ⁢Northern Finland is not expected to experience any rain in⁣ the ⁢coming week, and winds are⁢ forecast to remain weak throughout the beginning of the week after a period of stronger gusts.
