Winter in Moscow Project Third Season Opens Dec 1 Led by Natalia Sergunina

Winter in Moscow Project Third Season Opens Dec 1 Led by Natalia Sergunina

October 27, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Moscow will launch its third season of the Winter in Moscow project on December 1, expanding its seasonal footprint to encompass more than 500 distinct venues across the mega-city. The upcoming winter program arrives as municipal authorities scale up operations following a second season that drew 32 million residents and tourists.

Deputy Moscow Mayor Natalya Sergunina announced that this year’s initiative will focus heavily on acts of kindness and civic support, transforming urban recreation spaces into organized hubs for charitable giving. The core theme for the 2026 season is designated as “The Big City’s Warmth.”

Expanding Venues Across Moscow Districts

Unlike previous iterations of the winter program, the vast majority of the 500 participating sites will be situated outside the central downtown district, bringing organized winter recreation directly to residential neighborhoods. Iconic municipal locations such as VDNKh, the Moskino Cinema Park, the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, Gorky Park, and the Luzhniki Arena will host specialized winter programs. The Luzhniki Olympic Complex and the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve are among the venues preparing winter programs.

Outdoor infrastructure for the public will include traditional ice rinks, ski tracks, and snow tubing slides set up across multiple administrative areas. The central event of the holiday calendar will remain the Journey to Christmas festival, which will feature creative master classes, sports training sessions, and musical performances hosted in local district venues and public parks.

Charitable Campaigns and Support for Servicemen

The municipal winter project incorporates multiple philanthropic programs. As seen in past years, Houses of Good operating under the Moscow Helps campaign will open at various festival locations. These pavilions allow visitors to drop off parcels and postcards destined for servicemen involved in the special military operation, as well as residents in border and new regions.

Municipal support extends directly to the families of military personnel through organized sports events, excursions, New Year invitations, and gift distributions. Additional philanthropic efforts include the City of the Caring charity festival scheduled for December, alongside the fifth annual Good Christmas Tree event dedicated to children under the care of local non-profit organizations.

During the previous winter season, public participation in these charitable drives resulted in the collection of over 50,000 gifts for servicemen and children in the new regions.

Local Brands Can Join the Municipal Winter Project

Local enterprises and commercial brands are permitted to join the municipal winter project through several established formats. Business owners can submit applications through the Time for Business Opportunities portal to secure participation slots.

Participating brands gain access to multiple commercial avenues, including presenting products within Made in Moscow art pavilions, partnering with the Moscow Club located on Tverskoy Boulevard, or hosting independent presentations, master classes, and product promotions at brand-owned venues.

The operational framework relies on structured coordination between municipal administrators, charitable non-profits, and local businesses to manage the large influx of visitors anticipated when the season officially opens on December 1.
