Winona State Tennis Hosts UMC & MSUM This Weekend | Warriors Athletics

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University women’s tennis team will begin a busy weekend of conference competition Friday, February 13th, hosting the University of Minnesota Crookston at the Winona Tennis Center. The Warriors will follow that match with a Saturday, February 14th contest against Minnesota State University Moorhead, also at the Winona Tennis Center.

Winona State enters the weekend following a 4-3 victory over St. Cloud State University on January 31st, according to the Winona State Athletics website. Nikita Agrawal, Lainy Ristau and Clara Thoemke currently lead the team in singles play, each with a 2-1 record.

Ristau has been particularly strong, posting a 1-1 record at the No. 1 singles position and a 1-0 record at No. 2 singles. Agrawal is 2-0 at No. 4 singles, whereas Thoemke has secured wins at both the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions, holding a 1-0 record at each. The doubles team of Ristau and Izabel Barr are undefeated at 2-0, with victories recorded at both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions.

The University of Minnesota Crookston comes to Winona with a 2-2 record overall. Nadia Cases Mundet is a standout performer for the Golden Eagles, currently holding a 4-0 record in singles competition. Yet, the doubles teams of Daniela de Lucas Rivera and Terez Drasilova, along with the Golden Eagles’ overall doubles play, have struggled, posting a 1-3 and 4-6 record respectively.

Minnesota State University Moorhead brings a 1-2 record into Saturday’s match. Sophia Felderman leads the Dragons in singles play with a 5-4 record, while Luzmary Diaz Castillo has a 6-3 record, including three wins at the No. 1 singles position. The doubles team of Felderman and Katryna Hansen has a 4-4 record.

UMD Men’s Basketball is also scheduled to compete against Minnesota Crookston and MSU Moorhead this weekend, according to umdbulldogs.com. The Winona State men’s basketball team will host Minnesota Crookston and MSU Moorhead in what is being described as a pivotal weekend of NSIC hoops, as reported by Winona State University Athletics.
