Winnipeg Announces Advance Voting Locations for Municipal Election

October 2, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Winnipeg voters will head to the polls for early voting starting October 5, 2026, running through October 23, according to an ici.radio-canada.ca report. The expanded schedule provides four days for district advance polling stations, up from three during recent municipal elections, affecting races for mayor, city councillors, and school trustees.

Twelve candidates have officially launched their campaigns for the mayor’s office. Notable figures contesting the seat include incumbent mayor Scott Gillingham, Kevin Klein, Mike Vogiatzakis, Tracey Drexler, and Gagandeep Bawa, ici.radio-canada.ca reported. Beyond the mayoral race, 54 candidates have registered to vie for the 15 municipal council seats, guaranteeing electors in every ward at least two choices on their ballot. An additional 310 school trustees will be elected across 37 school divisions in Manitoba.

Schedule and Locations for Advance Polls

Voters can cast ballots at several designated commercial and municipal locations throughout October, bypassing the traditional election-day rush. Advance voting kicks off at City Hall in the council building at 510 Main Street, operating on the second floor from October 5 through October 23, excluding weekends and Thanksgiving Day. Additional early voting sites open briefly during the window, including Canada Life Centre from October 6 to October 8, followed by Kildonan Place shopping centre, Garden City shopping centre, and IKEA from October 9 to October 11. Voting opportunities extend later in the month to Grant Park shopping centre, CF Polo Park, and St. Vital Centre between October 16 and October 18. District advance polling stations within the 15 electoral wards will operate from October 19 to October 22. Election staff will also visit hospitals, care homes, and post-secondary institutions to facilitate voting for residents in those facilities, according to ici.radio-canada.ca reporting.
