The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a white-ball series against Sri Lanka, commencing in the United Arab Emirates on March 13, 2026. The series will consist of three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches, followed by three One Day International (ODI) contests beginning March 20.
The T20I leg of the series will be hosted in Sharjah, while the ODI matches are scheduled to seize place in Dubai, according to the ACB. This marks the first time Afghanistan will officially host Sri Lanka in a bilateral series, a milestone taking place in the UAE, which has become a symbolic home venue for Afghan cricket.
ACB CEO Naseeb Khan stated, “We are delighted to host Sri Lanka for the first time in our history. This event reflects the strength of our collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and we are committed to further strengthening our relationship to provide a high-quality cricket experience in the future.”
Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, added, “Bilateral cricket is an important element in international cricket, and we are extremely happy to be a part of this historic tour, as this is the first time Sri Lanka is engaging in a bilateral series hosted by Afghanistan.”
The series immediately follows the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The T20I matches are scheduled for March 13, March 15, and March 17 in Sharjah. The ODI series will then move to Dubai, with matches on March 20, March 22, and March 25.
The last bilateral series between the two nations occurred in early 2024, when Afghanistan toured Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka secured victories in both series during that tour, achieving a 3-0 sweep in the ODIs and winning the T20I series 2-1.
