First Supermoon of 2024 to Illuminate Skies‍ This Week

Skywatchers are poised to witness the first supermoon of the year, peaking on Thursday,⁣ January 25th. The full moon will appear noticeably⁣ larger adn brighter than usual, offering a stunning celestial display.

This supermoon, also known as the Wolf moon, ⁢occurs when the moon is at⁤ its ⁤closest point to earth in its orbit – a phenomenon called perigee.This ⁤proximity results in a moon that appears up ‍to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon. Supermoons are always full moons, but not all full⁢ moons are supermoons. Typically, there are three to four supermoons each year, offering frequent opportunities for stunning⁤ lunar views.
