Wheeling Women’s Golf improves at Bull Dog Fall Classic Ahead of MEC Championships
Grand Rapids, MI – The Wheeling University Women’s Golf team concluded play at the Bull Dog Fall Classic on sunday, showcasing significant improvement with a combined score reduction of 24 strokes from their first day. Both Cardinals golfers competing finished with lower scores on the final 18 holes, setting a positive tone as they prepare for the mountain East conference (MEC) Women’s golf Championships next week.
Senior Ella Keffer led Wheeling, finishing 44th overall and 16th among Atlantic regional competitors. Keffer carded a two-day score of 79 after dropping four strokes from her first-round performance, marking the sixth time this fall season she’s shot under 80. She began her day on hole 15, navigating a challenging start before finding her rhythm with a par on hole 18 and a birdie on hole two. Keffer’s front nine proved her strongest, with five pars and a +3 score. She added pars on holes 10 and 12,and another birdie on hole 11,finishing the back nine at +4.
Brielle Milhoan demonstrated the most dramatic improvement of the tournament, shaving 20 strokes off her day one score to finish with an 83. Milhoan overcame a slow start, responding with birdies on holes one and seven, and three consecutive pars after the first birdie. she finished the front nine at +6 and the back nine at +5, securing four pars over her final four holes.
The Wheeling university Women’s Golf team will next compete in the first round of the MEC Women’s Golf Championships on Monday, october 6th.
