WhatsApp Update: 13 New Languages Added for Message Translation | Beta Version

March 24, 2026 Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor Health

WhatsApp is expanding its translation capabilities with the addition of 13 new languages for message translation within its Android beta program. The update, currently rolling out to beta testers, builds upon an existing feature allowing users to translate messages to and from Arabic, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and English.

The newly supported languages include Czech, German, French, Indonesian, Italian, Latvian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Simplified Mandarin, bringing the total number of available languages for translation to nineteen. The feature is designed to facilitate communication between users who speak different languages directly within the messaging app.

According to WABetaInfo, the expanded language support also extends to WhatsApp’s transcription software for voice notes. This suggests that the 13 new languages may also become available for transcribing spoken messages into text, further enhancing accessibility and convenience for users.

Users interested in participating in the beta program and accessing these features can enroll through the Google Play Store. By navigating to the WhatsApp page and scrolling down, users will locate an option to join the beta testing program. However, beta versions may contain errors and instabilities, a trade-off for early access to new features.

The addition of these languages comes as WhatsApp continues to develop features aimed at improving global communication. In a separate update, WhatsApp is also testing a redesigned Status user interface within the Android beta, moving the status updates to the top app bar. The company is also reportedly working on ‘guest chats’ allowing people without accounts to participate in conversations.
