WhatsApp Scheduled Messages: Send Texts at a Specific Time – iOS Beta Feature Revealed

February 25, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow users to schedule messages for automatic delivery at a specified date and time, according to recent discoveries within the iOS beta program.

The functionality, first reported by WABetaInfo, was identified in beta version 26.7.10.72. Users will be able to compose a message and then select a future date and time for its dispatch. The system will then automatically send the message to the intended recipient without requiring user intervention at the scheduled moment. This capability is intended to facilitate reminders, pre-written greetings, or any message requiring precise timing.

Currently under development, scheduled messages will appear in a dedicated “Scheduled Messages” section within the chat information menu, allowing users to review and delete them before they are sent. A screenshot of the feature, published by WABetaInfo, depicts its leverage within a group chat, though it is anticipated the functionality will also be available in individual conversations.

Access to these beta features is managed through Apple’s TestFlight platform, enabling WhatsApp to gather user feedback prior to public release, as noted by Archyde. Enrollment in the WhatsApp beta program requires a compatible iOS device and an invitation link, details of which are available on WABetaInfo.

While the feature has been identified in the beta version, WhatsApp has not yet provided an official launch date for the public version. The development of scheduled messages remains ongoing and is not yet accessible to all beta testers.

In related developments, WhatsApp is also working on a chat media hub for its web client, centralizing shared images, videos, links and documents. The platform is developing a username availability verification feature for enhanced phone number privacy on the web, and recently launched an official iPad-compatible app offering a native tablet experience.
