WhatsApp Reminders: New Feature for Individual Messages

WhatsApp tests New Reminder Feature for Individual Messages

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature in its latest Android beta version that allows users to set reminders for individual messages. This advancement, reported by Macrumors, aims to enhance message management and follow-up capabilities within the popular messaging application.

The “Remind me” functionality is accessed by long-pressing a specific message. Users are then presented with options to schedule a reminder for two, eight, or twenty-four hours, or to set a custom time. Once a reminder is active, a small clock icon will appear next to the message. At the designated time, the user will receive a notification containing the message’s content and a preview of any associated media.

This new feature offers a more efficient choice to existing methods like starring messages or taking screenshots, wich can often lead to forgotten follow-ups.The goal is to provide a smoother workflow for users who need to revisit specific conversations or tasks mentioned in chats.

In addition to message-specific reminders, WhatsApp is also experimenting with a new notification system designed to alert users about unread messages from contacts they frequently interact with. This is particularly beneficial for individuals managing a high volume of conversations simultaneously.

Currently, these features are exclusive to the Android beta program. the company has not yet announced a release date or confirmed
