WhatsApp outage Disrupts service for Indian Users
New Delhi - WhatsApp users in India are currently experiencing widespread disruptions, reporting an inability to send messages and post status updates. The outage began this morning and is impacting a important portion of the platform’s user base.
This is not an isolated incident. WhatsApp,owned by Meta, has faced similar interruptions this year, including a major outage in April and another in February. During the April disruption, Down Detector registered issues for over 81% of users, with 16% reporting a complete loss of functionality. The February outage affected connections across WhatsApp Web, mobile apps, and other linked services globally, prompting over 9,000 complaints to Down Detector that day. While Meta has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of the current outage, the recurring nature of these incidents raises concerns about the platform’s stability.
Currently, users are unable to connect or utilize core WhatsApp features, including messaging and calling. Meta is reportedly testing a new feature allowing iOS users to share “Live Photos” in their original format, but it is unclear if this growth is related to the current service disruption. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
