From Maple Grove to Milwaukee: collins’ Athletic Background

Collins, a native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, demonstrated exceptional athleticism from a young age, excelling in both baseball and football. He attended maple Grove Senior High, where he was a teammate of former University of Wisconsin basketball standout Brad Davison.

Davison,who played for the Badgers from 2017-2022 and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior,and Collins had a unique dynamic on the football field. While Collins focused on running back, Davison served as the team’s quarterback. Collins’ father, Michael Collins, played football at West Virginia University.

“I’ve known Brad as we were 9, 10 years old,” Collins shared on the Microbrew podcast.”I played basketball growing up. He was in the class below me, but obviously he was so good that he played with the older kids. … I personally think he was just as good a football player as he was a basketball player. He was a really, really good quarterback. I think he could have played a high-level Division I quarterback, as well. He’s just a competitor.”

Brewers Acquire Collins and His Contract Details

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired Collins, a speedy outfielder known for his defensive prowess, in a trade with the Colorado Rockies in November 2023.He was originally selected by Colorado in the 10th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Collins is currently earning $762,200 for the 2025 season, according to Spotrac. He is under team control through the 2027 season and will not be eligible for salary arbitration until after that year, making him a cost-effective player for the Brewers’ roster.
