Los angeles, CA – Indie rock artist Alex G delivered a captivating performance of “Oranges” from his critically acclaimed new album, Headlights, on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! The appearance marked a significant moment for the late-night show, which returned to air on Tuesday, September 23rd, following a week-long suspension.
The suspension stemmed from controversy surrounding a joke made by host Jimmy Kimmel about the alleged shooter of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.The joke prompted backlash and pressure on ABC and its parent company, The Walt Disney Company, from the Trump administration, ultimately leading to Kimmel being temporarily taken off the air.
The show’s return was met with widespread support, and Tuesday’s episode featured an address from Kimmel himself alongside a performance by Sarah McLachlan.
Alex G’s performance continues a busy period for the artist. Headlights, released in July, has been lauded by critics, and the album’s lead single, “Afterlife,” received its live debut on The Late Show With Stephen colbert earlier this summer.
