Huskies Finish Eighth at Leadership & Golf Invitational, Show Resilience at Chambers Bay
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The University of Washington women’s golf team concluded play at the Leadership & Golf invitational on Tuesday, finishing eighth out of 16 teams at the challenging Chambers Bay Golf Course. The Huskies posted a final team score of 33-over par, demonstrating grit and determination throughout the tournament.
Head Coach Anna Temple praised her team’s ability to bounce back from a difficult start. “I’m really proud of the grit the team showed today,” Temple said. “We got off to a rough start but the resiliency to finish strong will be good heading into our next event.”
tuesday’s final round saw strong individual performances, highlighted by a birthday celebration for sophomore Mads Smith. smith carded an extraordinary even-par 72, fueled by five birdies, marking the low round of the day for the Huskies.
Amber Li and Wendy tang both contributed solid scores of 76. Li added three birdies and a remarkable nine pars to her round,showcasing her consistency. carmen Lim and Athena Ni each finished with 78s, with Lim securing the highest individual finish for Washington in a tie for 24th place overall.
Competing as an individual, freshman Claudia Alnajim made a strong debut for the Huskies, carding a 77. Alnajim and Ni both finished tied for 66th on the player leaderboard.
