Wardogs Developer Admits Failure Over Season 2 Balance Issues
Developer Bulkhead admitted total failure following the troubled launch of Wardogs Season 2, rolling back a controversial progression experiment that accidentally upended the tactical military shooter’s faction balance, me.ign.com reported. The studio’s executive officer, Joe Brammers, stated plainly that the team missed the mark with the update’s reward structure.
Blue Team Rewards Accelerate Character Progression
The update introduced extra experience points and cash rewards exclusively for players choosing to join the Blue Team, an initiative designed to repair the reputation of the struggling Lonestar faction. Instead of balancing the queues, the incentive backfired. Highly experienced players swarmed to the Blue Team to rapidly accelerate their character progression. While unlocking high-tier gear normally demands extended playtime, the bonus currency and XP allowed users to equip elite armor and disruptive weaponry almost immediately.
The studio deployed a hotfix to strip the bonuses from the game. Before the rollback, the financial and XP incentives—set at a 5% cash boost and a 2.5% XP gain—transformed the Blue Team from the lowest-performing group into an overwhelming force dominated by competitive players prioritizing victory at any cost.
Alongside the reward shifts, MMOEXP reported that Season 2 launched with a progression baseline where all players started with 10,000 in local currency alongside accelerated XP.
Weapons, Vehicles, and Environmental Dynamics
Vehicle pools grew to include the Wolf 110 transport and armed jeep, the T-72 B3 battle tank, and the Flak Panza Gard (or Gepard) air defense vehicle. A dynamic rain system altered audio-visual parameters across maps.

Bulkhead Tests Mechanics Amid High Sales Volumes
Wardogs remains in early access, a developmental stage where Bulkhead continues testing mechanics to achieve competitive equilibrium before version 1.0. High sales volumes since launch have forced the studio to scramble to keep pace with an expanding player base.
