Elusive Elk “Emil” Spotted Across Moravia, Raises Health Concerns
Wildlife tracking intensifies as community shares sightings and video evidence.
The remarkable journey of an elk, affectionately nicknamed Emil, continues to captivate the public across Moravia. Recent sightings reveal the animal is navigating the region, though concerns have emerged regarding its physical condition.
Nivnice Update: Limp Noted, Migration Possibly Restricted
On July 22nd and 23rd, Emil was observed near Nivnice. On the evening of July 23rd, a listener named **Veronika** reported seeing the elk with a significant limp in its right hind leg.
Hello, today 20:00 hrs Nivnice Los Emil. Today I had the opportunity to meet him the next day and I couldn’t miss that Emilek had some health problem quite greatly limping on his right hind leg. Maybe that’s why he stays here and has restrictions on migration.

Earlier reports from July 22nd indicated Emil grazing by the forest near the main road.
Korytná Sightings and Movement Patterns
The elk was present in Korytná on July 20th and 21st. On July 20th, it was seen around the village at 5:00 PM, and later at 10:24 PM. Early the next morning, farmers spotted Emil near a farm in Korytná. By midday, the elk was observed moving along the road towards Nivnice.
Javorník Area and Further North
On July 16th, Emil was sighted in the vicinity of Javorník. Reports indicated multiple sightings, with the animal moving progressively further north.

Dolní Němčí and Uherský Brod Observations
On July 15th, Emil was seen in Dolní Němčí at 6:30 AM, heading southeast by 7:00 PM. The previous day, July 14th, the elk was spotted multiple times in Uherský Brod, including Těšov at 5:50 AM, by the Olšava River at 6:00 AM, and on the Olšava housing estate at 7:19 PM.

Journey Through Ludkovice and Želechovice nad Dřevnicí
Emil crossed the road near Ludkovice-Biskupice at 12:35 PM on July 13th, proceeding along a stream. Earlier, between July 5th and 11th, the elk was frequently sighted in and around Želechovice nad Dřevnicí. Observations include sightings near the Příluky route, by the railway tracks, and along the road.

Early Sightings in Komonec and Zlín
On July 4th, Emil was seen at 10:33 PM near Komonec. Earlier that day, at 4:49 PM, the elk was spotted in the industrial zone of Příluky, Zlín, near the Svoboda Březík bakery.
Lukou Pond and Fryšták Road
On June 29th, Emil was observed swimming in a pond near Lukou around noon. By 7:30 PM, the elk was seen near Lukou by the road to Fryšták, close to a water treatment plant, moving towards the fields.
Public Engagement and Conservation Status
The public is encouraged to report any sightings of Emil, including the date, time, and precise location, to help map its movements. Photos and videos are also welcomed for publication. The European elk is a protected and endangered species in the Czech Republic, with the most significant population residing in the Bohemian Forest.
