Walmart Launches Combined Walmart Plus and Sams Club Membership for 0 a Year

Walmart Launches Combined Walmart Plus and Sams Club Membership for $120 a Year

Walmart Launches $120 Joint Membership Combining Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus

Walmart on Tuesday launched a new joint membership combining its namesake retail chain and its subsidiary Sam’s Club for $120 per year, according to a company announcement. The offering pairs Walmart+ with Sam’s Club Plus at a price nearly $100 lower than buying standalone annual memberships to both retailers.

For $120 a year, we’re raising expectations for what a membership can deliver: more money in their pockets and more time to call their own, Furner said in a statement.

The joint package grants subscribers access to Sam’s Club warehouses, free delivery services from both banners, gas savings, a subscription to streaming services Peacock or Paramount+, and 2 percent cash back on eligible Sam’s Club purchases. Existing account holders at both retailers can link their profiles to secure the combined rate.

Financial Context and E-Commerce Growth Across Retail Segments

The membership rollout arrives as retail executives manage consumer spending pressures driven by elevated food and fuel costs. During Walmart’s fiscal second-quarter earnings report in August, Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey noted that consumer demand remained resilient despite persistent inflation. Although the company raised its full-year guidance during that period, its stock declined after overall sales figures fell short of Wall Street projections.

Rainey indicated in August that Walmart implemented price reductions across select categories, including beef, while leaning into its core discount model to maintain market share. Meanwhile, subsidiary Sam’s Club posted a 26 percent increase in e-commerce sales during the fiscal second quarter, powered by stronger transaction volumes and overall membership gains. Total net sales for Sam’s Club reached $25.7 billion, inclusive of fuel.

Membership revenue continues to serve as a high-margin growth driver for the enterprise. Global membership revenue climbed 17 percent during the fiscal second quarter, with Walmart+ net additions reaching a record high for the period. Sam’s Club membership revenue increased by 6 percent over the same timeframe.

Alongside consumer offerings, Walmart confirmed that employees across both retail banners will receive the joint membership as an added workplace benefit. Corporate representatives stated that expenses associated with updating the membership program are not anticipated to exert a material impact on the company’s fiscal third-quarter or full-year financial guidance.

Company Maintains Standalone Membership Options for Consumers

The company continues to maintain standalone membership options for consumers who prefer single-store access rather than the unified package.
