Wallaroos Announce Squad for 2023 Rugby World Cup, Featuring 14 Debutantes
Sydney, Australia – August 16, 2023 – Rugby Australia today unveiled a 30-player squad to represent the Wallaroos at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in England, commencing October 8th.The team boasts a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, with a notable 14 players set to make their World Cup debuts.
The Wallaroos will begin their campaign with a pool match against Samoa on October 14th at the Northland Events Center in Auckland, New Zealand, before facing Wales on October 19th in Cardiff, Wales, and a final pool game against England on October 24th at Sandy Park, Exeter.
The squad includes experienced campaigners such as Michaela Leonard (38 caps), Ashley Marsters (41 caps), and Asoiva Karpani (37 caps), providing crucial leadership.New faces include uncapped player Caitlin Urwin, a Queensland Reds representative, and a cohort of debutantes marked with an asterisk in the squad list.
