Waldkatzenbach Road Reopens After Months-Long Renewal Project
Waldkatzenbach/strümpfelbrunn. Drivers in the Neckar-odenwald district can once again travel freely on district roads 3925 and 3926 as of today, September 13, 2025, following the completion of extensive roadway renewal. A full closure, implemented at the end of July, allowed crews to fundamentally renovate the stretch of road between the district border towards gaimühle and the roundabout near strümpfelbrunn.
The project, encompassing approximately 11,500 square meters of roadway, addressed critically importent damage caused by aging and heavy traffic. In addition to the core road renewal, work included repairs to banquets and hard shoulders, as well as adjustments to access points and connecting paths. The Neckar-Odenwald district initiated the repairs to combat issues like cracks, surface deterioration, and uneven settling.
The renovation spanned a key section of roadway from the district border towards Gaimühle, through the Waldkatzenbach passage at Freiherr-von-Drais-Straße / Strümpfelbrunner Straße, and up to the roundabout near Strümpfelbrunn. During the construction period, traffic was rerouted, and bus service to the “Waldkatzenbach-Ort” stop was temporarily suspended.
With the full closure lifted, traffic flow has returned to normal, and public transportation is operating on its regular schedule with all stops now served. Road marking work remains to be completed, but will not require further closures.
